Two statements in the October minutes need both accurate wording and the right order. When moving Motion 2861 on 14 October 2024, Niall Dennehy said he was not advocating that the Council ignore the recommendation. Later in the recorded discussion, James Murray said the roads had been reviewed and no road could be identified that they could recommend staying at 80 km/h. Dennehy’s earlier statement was not a response to Murray’s later remarks. The minutes are a meeting account, not the underlying road-by-road assessments. October records unanimous agreement; December acknowledges support and clarifies the agreed legal referral. The rural-local-road default changed from 80 to 60 km/h on 7 February 2025.
