Before interpreting a county death count, define what is being counted. The RSA’s Methodological Information, version 2.1 dated 22 May 2025, defines a fatality by death within thirty days of the collision, excluding medical causes and deliberate acts. Its official collision figures concern public roads. The RSA collision-map guide defines county by where the collision occurred, not the victim’s home county. The methodology also distinguishes preliminary collision information from contributory factors established through a completed investigation.
