Councillor payments and expenses: follow the published figures

Public money deserves a readable public record. Tipperary County Council publishes a quarterly register of payments to councillors, covering salaries, allowances, travel and subsistence, and training and conference expenses. The official documents are linked here so readers can check the figures for themselves.

A payments total is not the same as an expenses total. Read the headings before comparing figures: remuneration, allowances, training and conference payments appear separately. Do not treat a member-payment table as a road-maintenance budget or a bridge allocation.

Read the period as well as the amount

The official register groups its documents by year and quarter. The Q4 2025 cover gives 1 October to 31 December 2025. Some table headings nevertheless use the words “Annual Remuneration” and “Annual Allowance”; the example below preserves those labels rather than annualising or combining the figures.

The document listed as Q3 2025 has a cover reading “1st July 2024 to 30th September 2025”. That discrepancy needs clarification; it is not silently corrected here, and this page does not add the four publications into an annual total.

A worked example—not a ranking

The first member table in the Q4 2025 publication is for Amy Goldsboro, on PDF page 2. The following non-zero entries and total are reproduced to show how that table is organised; the other payment categories on that page are printed as zero. This is not a selection based on wrongdoing or a comparison of councillors.
