What the records show about the road Bronagh English died on
She was eighteen. On the night of 24 April 2025 her car left a public road at Killardry Bridge, Kilmoyler, and entered the River Aherlow. The Garda review of the camera footage found she was within the speed limit and did not swerve. This site sets out, from documents held on file, the condition that road and bridge were in — and who was responsible for it.

How she came to leave the road
She was travelling within the law, on a road she could not have known, in the dark and heavy rain. Her leaving it was not one failure but a sequence — and every link in that sequence was a public authority's responsibility, not hers.
- She was within the speed limit — a limit the bend could not be driven at in the wet.
- She had no warning the turn was there — there was no advance signage of any kind.
- The wall where she struck it stood at 0.23m, not the 1.25m it measured where it was maintained.
- It was mountable, at the one point on the bridge where that was physically possible.
- The drop to the river was over six metres, with no vehicle restraint.
