New: the story, step by step
A new section sets out what happened as a single stepped account — from the €450 repair priced in 2014 and never done, through the ignored “Warning” of June 2024 and the unactioned “Significant Damage” finding of January 2025, to the night of 24 April 2025 — with a source note on every step and a played-through story mode. Two labelled visual reconstructions of the bridge approach accompany it; they are illustrations, not evidence.

Correction: the drop to the water
Some pages on this record previously described the drop from the road to the River Aherlow as “over six metres.” The measured figure in the Denis Wood Associates forensic survey is approximately 4.3 metres to the water surface at the time of inspection. All pages have been corrected to the documented figure. Water level varies; the survey figure is stated as measured.

The 2018 and 2025 works, read against the chainages
The council's Road Management schedule places a 2018 Road Reconstruction across the bridge section (chainage 1780–2480) and a 2025 reseal reaching chainage 1802. The Killardry section begins at 1780 — so both campaigns worked across it, each adding material and raising the carriageway, while the parapet was never raised to match. The exact 2025 completion date remains outstanding and is being sought.

District bridge backlog confirmed in 2026 minutes
Signed Cahir-Cashel Municipal District minutes record the District Engineer confirming 477 bridges in the district against €1m in county bridge funding, with 14 applications submitted and three funded. It is an independent, current corroboration of the funding scarcity in which Killardry received nothing.

Five 2025 funds identified, none reaching the bridge
The May 2025 council management report sets out five 2025 funding streams totalling €4,792,990 — bridge rehabilitation, speed-limit signage, drainage, climate adaptation and safety improvement — each of which covers a defect documented at Killardry. The bridge received nothing from any of them.
